Helene Martin

Helene Martin (born with Paris in 1928) is a Auteur-compositeur-interprète French which devoted its career to the setting in music and the interpretation of the Poésie.

Biography

Beginnings in the cabarets left bank of Paris, in particular with the Dove. It records since 1956, its hot voice of viola accompanied by its guitar. In 1962, it starts to put in music poems of Jean Genet, of which it receives the encouragements. On a proposal of Jean Vilar, it goes up to the Festival of Avignon of 1966 the spectacle " Grounds mutilées" on texts of Rene Tank, with Roger Blin, Francesca Solleville, Bachir Touré. It installs its production company, the discs of the Rider, in the Vaucluse in 1970.

A long friendship with Aragon and Giono is marked by adaptations of poems in song (in 1971) and television programs on their work (of which an adaptation of Jean Blue ). In 1975 its interpretation of the Élégie appears with Pablo Neruda of Aragon, which had made him meet the Chilean poet.

Among his other poets of predilection, one counts Audiberti, Colette, Lucienne Desnoues, Paul Éluard, Luc Bérimont, Eugene Guillevic, Louise Labé, Queneau, Seghers, Supervielle, Soupault, Jean Mogin… It takes again also songs of Léo Ferré or Gilles Vigneault. Philippe Soupault pays to him homage in a monograph published in 1974 ( Helene Martin , Seghers editions).

In 1976, it assembles " Songs/roman" with the Square Silvia Montfort. After a spectacle on Georges Directs with the Center Pompidou in 1982, she adapts to the scene Condemned to dead one of Jean Genet in 1984, in the form of opera-poem with the theater Romain Roland de Villejuif. Its feminist engagement shows through in its album Liberté woman (1982-1990) and in the realization of a series of seven emissions on the Contraception ( the Choice). It is also producing discs of the Rider, creative in concerts and musical productions, auteure of radio broadcasts, auteure director of television, Director, and creative of the televised series Plain song, dedicated to the portraits of poets.

In 1998, Etienne Daho leaves the recording in concert the setting in music by Helene Martin of " On my cou" of Broom. In 1999, it records a new album, the Softness of the bagne , on poems of Michel-Angel, Artaud, Rimbaud, Fargue, Claude Roy or François Villon.

It belongs to the large interpreters of poetry, with Léo Ferré, Paco Ibáñez or Angélique Ionatos.
