Biography

Girl of Georges Zourabichvili and Nathalie von Pelken. She married with Paris, the July 5th 1952, Louis Edouard Carrère, was born the January 7th 1928 with Bordeaux, wire of Albert Georges Carrère and Pauline Dencausse.

Born in a family that the cosmopolitan spirit and the Russian revolution have long time dispersed through Europe, it counts among her ancestors of large servants of the Russian Empire from which it follows the traces, and of resistant to this same Empire; a president of the Academy of Science under Catherine II, like three regicides. This heredity naturally predisposed it being studied of the history and the political science which she taught with the Sorbonne before transferring her professorial pulpit to the Institut from political studies from Paris.

It received the Aujourd'hui price for the Empire burst in 1978, the price Louise Weiss in 1987; the Price Comenius in 1992 for the whole of its work and the price of the Ambassadors in 1997, for Nicolas II . It is associate member with the royal Academy of Belgium.

Elected with the French Academy, the December 13rd 1990, with the armchair of Jean Mistler (14^e armchair).

She is elected perpetual secretary the October 21st 1999, to replace Maurice Druon, resigner of this function. The title “not feminized” is used with the request express of interested at once after its election. This use is generally respected in the media.

It is the mother of the writer and realizer Emmanuel Carrère, of the lawyer Nathalie Carrère and the doctor, journalist Marina Carrère d' Encausse, the sister of the type-setter Nicolas Zourabichvili and the cousin of Salome Zourabichvili, which was ambassador of France in Georgia (country), then Foreign Minister of this country and, currently, one of the leader of the opposition.

People cannot express their opinion on the ethnicities, the Second world war and much of other things. One immediately judges you for infringement. The politically correct one of our television is almost as the censure of the media in Russia”. Following these declarations, Eric Halphen, in a work denounces such declarations and wonders: “What can't one say over the Second world war? ”. Sebastien Fontenelle, in another work, as for him, compares these remarks with those of Alain Finkielkraut and Georges Frêche on the color of the players of the Équipe of France of football, or Renaud Camus on the number of Jews in the audio-visual one.
