Heinrich Ernst Karl Jordan
Heinrich Ernst Karl Jordan is a German Entomologiste , born the December 7th 1861 with Almstedt and dead the January 12th 1959 with Tring.
It makes its studies with the Université of Göttingen. In 1893, it starts to work with the Muséum of Tring where Lord Lionel Walter Rothschild (1868-1937) preserved his immense collection of Natural history. It specializes on the Coléoptère S, the Lépidoptère S and the Siphonaptère S. Jordan makes appear more than 400 publications, generally with Lord Rothschild or his brother Nathaniel Charles Rothschild (1877-1923). It only describes 2.575 new S and, with the brothers Rothschild 851 others. Jordan is at the origin of the first international congress of entomology in 1910. Member of the Royal Society, it chair the entomological Société of London of 1929 1930.
