Heike Drechsler , born Daute the December 16th 1964 with Gera is old a German Athlète

One discovers this athlete of East Germany at the time of the Championnats of the world of athletics 1983 of Helsinki where it obtains the gold medal in Long jump at only 17 years. It becomes thus the favorite logic of the Olympic Games of Los Angeles in 1984. But GDR, as the majority of the other nations of the Eastern bloc, boycott this event.

The following year sees it beating its first world records with 7 m 44 in length, it is indicated athlete of the year 1986: world records of the 200 m Marita Koch beaten, champion of Europe of the 200 m and the long jump. But in 1987, it gains only the medals of money over 100 m and of the bronze length to the Mondiaux 1987.

At the time of its first Plays, Seoul, it fails in length vis-a-vis that which will become its larger rival: Jackie Joyner-Kersee, also obtaining the bronze medals on 100 m and 200 Mr.

The following year, it gains its third European title. It preserves however once again its European title in 1998, but the wound catches up with it and prevents it of participle at World the 1999.

It is thus not favorite at the time of OJ of 2000 of Sidney, leaving this role to frightening competitors such as Marion Jones which dominates the athletics or Tatyana Kotova. It however gains there its second Olympic title at 35 years, 8 years after Barcelona.

It continues its career but the wounds prevent it from taking part in the major competitions. She announces her sporting retirement in May 2005.
