Heidi (Romance)

Heidi is the Romance character of created by the writer Suisse Johanna Spyri in 1880. It became a mythical character of Switzerland and fact part of the stories most famous for children.

1880, the first novel
Orphan Heidi will live in his/her grandfather on a mountain pasture in top of Maienfeld in Switzerland, where she should pass her life. Whereas it acclimatized and found new friends (the small chevrier Peter and its grandmother), his/her aunt who must legally raise it cost to seek it to live with Francfort-sur-le-Main, where it must hold company with her Clara cousin who is paralyzed. But Heidi is nostalgic of its mountain pasture and becomes sick. It will be able to finally turn over in her grandfather.
1881, the second novel
Clara returns visit in Heidi on its mountain pasture…
Heidi finds the mountains after a stay at the city. During this time the health of Clara périclite. What to make to help it? Heidi has an idea: Clara could perhaps join it on the mountain pasture.

Heidi : A charming young girl of approximately 8 years, Orphan E, but which will be rewarded by the destiny. Its true first name is Adélaïde.

Peter : The small chevrier, boy who keeps the goats of the village, it does not go readily to school since the training of the reading does not succeed to him. He is the best friend of Heidi and is jealous of Clara.

Clara Sesemann : It is a little girl of approximately 12 years, Paralysé E, resulting from a rich person family and lives in a big city. His/her missing mother, her father when with him is constantly on a journey and has little time to devote to him. Thanks to Heidi it is released from its loneliness then of its suffering.

The industrial era, with its social upheavals, is at the origin of the success of these novels.
It resides in the confrontation of the Alpine, natural and healthy universe, with the town life in industrial change with which is associated the disease and the indifference
Recognition
The novels were very quickly translated in the whole world in addition to fifty languages. In French: Heidi (1882) and Heidi grows (1882) .
Charles Tritten (which was one of the French translators) wrote continuations with the history. There be many adaptations for the cinema, television, the radio and the scene. A cartoon carried out in Japan (1974) also knew an international diffusion.
In Switzerland, in 2001, at the time of the 100e birthday of died of Johanna Spyri, a commemorative coin is dedicated to him, just as a stamp posts Swiss in 1951.
