My Zhiyuan (馬致遠, 1226? - 1285?) Chinese writer is a born with Beijing at the end of the dynasty Jin. He is regarded as the large poet of the Dynastie Yuan (元朝). Also playwright, several of his parts have a topic Taoïste.
The Han Gong Qiu (汉宫秋 the autumn in the Han Palate), drama during the Yuan dynasty, takes again the topic of Wang Zhaojun, married by the Yuandi emperor of the Han to an emperor Xiongnu within the framework of its policy of diplomatic alliances. Xiongnu hoped for a princess, but the tradition claims that Yuandi, holding his/her daughters for Chinese alliances, had decided to send one of the many concubines of its palate which he had never yet seen. The choice was done on portrait, Yuandi having care to choose the least beautiful. On this screen, My Zhiyuan imagines a love of Wang Zhaojun for the emperor, and a treason of the painter Mao Yanshou, high with the dignity of advising, which represents it with its disadvantage. When Yuandi finally sees it in flesh and bone before its departure, he regrets its decision, but its Prime Minister advises to him to conclude the project of alliance for the good of the state. Wang Zhaojun, by honesty, leaves its beautiful atours in the Han palate deploring by reciting the poem Li Bai:
Its honesty towards the emperor will lead it to the suicide in the river of the Black Dragon, border between the two countries, while murmuring: “ Emperor Han, this life is completed for me. I will await you in the life to come ”.
