The material
Slow Version and Trashman is versions of work of what will become Midnight (a title which will be published initially on War Heroes ). Alan Douglas had used the bands of Trashman to create the first title of the album Midnight Lightning .Drone Blues and Jimi/Jimmy Jam was published in 1980 on the album Nine To The Universe in versions published by Alan Douglas. The jams are restored here in their entirety. The personnel of Jimi/Jimmy Jam remains dubious: if the presence of Jim McCarty of the Buddy Miles Express is proven, the identity of the bass player varies according to the sources.
Ezy Ryder/Star Spangled Banner and Blues Jam At Olympic is the instrumental ones of Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Jam 292 had been published initially on Loose Ends . Another catch of this blues is present on the album Jimi Hendrix: Blues .
The continuation made up of Message To Love , Gypsy Blood and Valleys Of Neptune is played without accompaniment. Message To Love is still embryonic. The structure of the refrain is however recognizable. Gypsy Blood is more in the spirit of Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland) . Valleys Of Neptune is for the completely embryonic blow.
Lastly, the last title presents a new version of Valleys Of Neptune where Jimi Hendrix plays the agreements of its unfinished composition to the piano.
