History

In 1853, a first headlight says “headlight of the Hospital” was built in complement of the Phare of Fatouville. It replaced an old tower of wood (called turn with fire ) which succeeded a simple reverberator installed by the hydrograph de Gaulle, a naval engineer (1732-1810). It was lit in 1857 and functioned until in 1908, date on which it was extinguished and its lantern deposited. It is from now on the property of the town of Honfleur.

In 1908, a second headlight was carried out with the extinction of the headlight of Fatouville to announce the western entry of the port of Honfleur. It was equipped with a fire with 2 occultations/8 seconds (3 white sectors, 2 red sectors and a green sector). In 1933, it is electrified and modified on fire with 2 occultations/12 seconds (coloured sectors: 3 white, 2 reds, 1 green).
