Hawa Yakubu (born in 1947 or 1948 with the Ghana and dead the March 20th 2007 with London), was a political woman Ghanaian. Vice-president of the New patriotic party (NPP). Called the Iron Lady for its resistance, its frankness and its determination in the fight against the social plagues.
She is appointed of 1979 with 1981, then exiles herself with London when the military junta seizes the power in December 1981. She lives then with the the United Kingdom, then with the Nigeria. In 1991, it turns over to the Ghana.
In 1992, it is independent candidate with the legislative election which it gained but loses her seat in circumstances discussed after having conceded a defeat.
It leaves then to Cotonou to the Bénin, where it becomes executive director of GERDDES (Group of study and research on the democracy and economic development and social), a ONG which supervises elections in Africa.
In 2000, it turns over in its country where it is elected the same appointed year. At the time of the elections of 2004, it is not re-elected.
In 2001, it becomes Minister for Tourism posts that it occupies until in 2005.
