Havourah

A havourah (חבורה) is a term coming from the Hebrew which means Confrérie or more still circle of studies and prayers in margin of the Synagog.

At the origin, the Talmud informs us that at the period Temple of Jerusalem of small groups Juifs pious met around a collective sacrifice for the festival of Pessah and the Seder which is followed from there. One studied there the Torah and one requested all together.

With the movement of the Jewish Renewal, the havourah is heard like an alternative group at the institutions " classiques". Egalitarian, men and women are mixed there and the entirety of the community takes part without rabbinical authority .
