Havinnes

Havinnes is a section of the Belgian city of Tournai, located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut As it is often the case in the area, Havinnes is already a village populated at the dawn of the independence of Belgium and sees its population increasing until shortly after the middle of the 19th century. During nearly one century, one observes then a long movement of rural migration, hardly stopped during the first decade of 1900: the village suffers from the various agricultural crises and of its relative distance compared to Tournai; it loses some 400 inhabitants and reaches his minimum threshold in 1961 with 893 inhabitants. It is only from 1960 that the movement starts to be reversed, people starting to settle in the countryside following the generalization of the car. This dynamics continues and intensifies during the decade 1980, the population increasing of almost 250 units between 1977 and 1991. Since 1991 on the other hand, the population was practically stabilized: it increased more only by 26 units between 1991 and 2003. At the end of the day, the population of the village hardly increased by 8% since 1830, that is to say twice less than the very weak average already of the City of Turned. 1775: The village is composed of four small cores of habitat: Havines, the hamlet of Finto, Regé of Viler (High Rejection) and Large Regai. These cores are not very dense and the habitat is relatively dispersed. The core of Havinnes is established on both sides rieu of Love whose alluvial plain is uninhabited. The agricultural landscape is of type semi-of the woodlands: the network of hedges is rather loose and discontinuous. Around the dwellings, one finds kitchen gardens and small meadows enclose in the form of orchards. All the funds of valley are occupied by wet meadows. The wood of Havinnes is much wider towards the east than at the present time. Towards the south, one also finds some small solid masses wooded. The network of roadway systems is practically similar to that of today. The Supposed one of Small Marvis is indicated on the chart, just as a windmill located in edge of Main road at the end is village core: the “mill of Havines or Angy”. 1907: The construction of the railway line Turn-Brussels represents the principal modification. The village of Havinnes profits from a stagnation point and a station; the latter is located along Main road, near the territory of Béclers. The tilery of Havinnes is already in activity beside this station. The village is not concerned yet with the exploitation of the careers and a castle extends in the place from the mud tank. The forest moved back and reached its current limit. The network of ways and paths reached its maximum density. 2000: The southern end of the territory was deeply modified by the development of the C.C.B. Elsewhere, the structure of the territory practically did not change. The habitat developed, primarily by the thickening of the existing cores.

It was a common to whole share before the fusion of the communes of 1977.
