Havergal Brian
Havergal Brian , born the January 29th 1876 in Dresden in the Staffordshire and dead the November 28th 1972 with Shoreham-by-Sea in the Sussex, was a type-setter and critical musical British.
In addition to works of Chamber music or vocal, he is the author of 32 Symphonie S, which makes of it the most prolific symphonist between Josef Haydn and Leif Segerstam. The Symphony n° 1, known as " Gothique" , in two parts and six movements is longest of the repertory (105 minutes of duration), but only the first three movements (35 minutes of music) are purely instrumental; the second part is colossal a Te Deum for choruses, orchestra and Orgue. Also, work is connected more with a Oratorio, a little with the manner of the eighth symphony of Gustav Mahler.
As critic musical, Brian cultivated a sharp and sour style which is not without pointing out that of George Bernard Shaw.
