Hautmont
Hautmont is a common French, located in the department of the Northern (59) and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Its inhabitants is called Hautmontois.

Located in the valley of the Sambre.

Highway network: Hautmont is in the vicinity immediate of Maubeuge (7 km), is connected to Avesnes-on-Helpe (18 km) by the trunk road 2, and to Valencian (35 km) by the Trunk road 49. Skirting is city with 2x2 ways inaugurated fine April 2005.

Rail network: old large the line Paris - Brussels - Amsterdam (before the startup of Thalys by Northern LGV), as well as the line Paris - Cologne - Berlin passes by Hautmont. History
It is after the construction of a small oratory, dedicated to Saint-Waast, on a small monticule located on Right Bank of Sambre at the locality " Mount-Aigu" that the village of Hautmont appears to have taken its name.

643 : Madelgaire, count and governor of the Hainaut (born towards 610 with Strépy), member of the Court of the king Dagobert Ier, assistance the action missionary and undertakes to make build a monastery in a place called Altus Mons. Dagobert offered moreover the relics of the holy pope to him Marcel, dead martyr into 309. Vincent Madelgaire marries Waudru with which it will have four children, Landry, Madelberte, Aldetrude and Dentelin. Waudru, after their common decision to separate to devote itself to the monastic life, will make build a monastery on a vast domain which will become the cradle of the Belgian city of Mons. The abbey accommodated Saint Ansbert, bishop of Rouen, exiled by Pépin of Herstal.

1565 - 1625: golden age of Large Hautmont under the reign of Gaspard Hanot. The Abbaye is renovated and of new buildings are contruits. A Brasserie also settles.

1589 : Gaspard Hanot makes bring back to Hautmont the Relique S of Marcel saint, deposited previously in the refuge of the abbey of Mons to preserve them Pillage S.

1789 : with the Revolution, the village of Hautmont counts 552 inhabitants. The abbey was one of most prosperous of Hainaut. Contrary to many others, the abbey was not completely destroyed with the French revolution, thanks to the courage of Dom Ghuislain Dusart which, on July 28th, 1789, succeeded in calming the peasants come to plunder and destroy the abbey. Dom Ghuislain, in their opening the door, required of them to respect the places and the food offered to them which they asked.

1843 : the new factory of the Public limit company of the Rolling mill S, forging mills, Foundry S and factories of Providence is created in Hautmont. The arrival of this factory will cause the creation of many others.
