Hauteville is a common Suisse of the Canton of Freiburg, located in the District of the Gruyere.

Situation and population

Leant with the sides of the solid mass of Berra and opening largely on the lake of the Gruyere, Hauteville is a village of almost 550 inhabitants. Located at approximately 20 km of Freiburg and 8 km of Bubble, it offers to its inhabitants a splendid panorama on all the Low-Gruyere, the calm one and the serenity of the countryside and the proximity of the urban centres and an easy access to the highway.

Surface

Of a surface of almost 11 km ² - of which little less than half in forest - Hauteville has common borders with the Rock, Corbières and Cerniat and with Bridge-the-City. A considerable part of its territory is on the other pouring of the solid mass of Berra.

Altitude

Minimal altitude is at 677 m and maximum altitude with 1490 Mr. Of strong differences which explain why Hauteville counts many brooks, whose the three principal ones are the brook of the Branches, which crosses all the center of the village, the brook of Ruz, which runs along the hamlet of the same name and the brook of the Forks which gave its name to the vault which is located at the southern entry of the village.

Economy

If the commune of Hauteville still counts close to about fifteen farms, it counts also a riding school, a publisher, several craftsmen, a dairy, an office of station and even three coffees restaurants (the Lodging of Allières being located on its territory communal). That represents in a little more than one about fifty places of work.

Cultural heritage

A rich person inheritance, in particular a beautiful church of the 17th century, entirely renovated in 1977, and splendid country residences with the frontages browned by time.
