Haute couture
The haute couture is the professional sector in which exert the creators of Vêtement S of luxury. Today, it is organized around houses of haute couture , of the signs for some rather old, in which many large dressmakers collaborated with the passing of years. She plays a part of Avant-gardisme and its works precede the mode. In France, from where it is originating, the haute couture is a Appellation contr4ol3ee. The houses haute couture must answer a certain number of criteria (many employees, participation in a quota of large processions, use of a certain surface of fabric).
The Haute couture corresponds to the activity first, and historical, of large the Parisian houses. Those turned to the Prêt to carry later, in order to touch broader customers. Indeed, it is considered that today only a few hundreds of women are likely to buy parts of Haute couture , certain dresses being negotiated more than 100.000 euros. This high price is the reflection of the requirements of this trade (long work, completed with the hand in French workshops, etc). Today, the Haute couture is on the decline and it is not profitable for the Houses, it is used only as window to diffuse an brand image. However, this activity makes it possible to make remain many suppliers, whose company is generally artisanal and old, following the example embroiderer Lesage or of the plumassier Lemarié.
