Haut-Brion castle

The Château Haut-Brion is the wine field most famous of the Vignoble of the Low registers. It is located in AOC Pessac-Léognan, on the commune of Pessac, in the agglomeration of Bordeaux. It produces one of the wines of the most prestigious Bordeaux, which bears this same name.
The Haut-Brion Castle is a “First Great wine” according to the classification of 1855 of the wines of Bordeaux. It shares this rare distinction with the Château Margaux, the Château Latour, the Château Sheep Rothschild and the Château Lafite Rothschild. Moreover, the Haut-Brion Castle is also classified like Classified Cru of the Low registers in the classification of 1959.
History
The field was made up in 1525 by Jean Pontac. Haut-Brion is the only vineyard in red (apart from the Médoc) to be distinguished by the famous classification from 1855. It is the leader of the classified vintages of the Graves, all located on the appellation contr4ol3ee Pessac-Léognan, created in September 1987.
The soil
The soil of Haut-Brion, formed by two croups of large sand-gravel mixes which do not have their equivalent in the surroundings, rises from 12 to 15 meters above the funds of the close rivers: Peugue in north and the brook of Ars in the south.
