Hatméhyt

In the Egyptian Mythology, Hatméhyt is the goddess fish of the ancient city of Mendès, in the delta. Attested since, it is represented with a catfish on the head. The identification of this fish remains prone to zoological polemic; the most frequent representation is that of a electric Poisson-chat of the Nile or of a schilbe mystus (family of the Schilbeidae), but certain Egyptologists consider that it is a Barbus bynni (of the family of the Cyprinidae), even a dolphin.

In Palestine, Hatméhyt appears twice on amulets, but their manufacture comes from Egypt.

It is associated to the god ram Banebdjedet.
