Biography

Beginnings

Attacker pivot in the Eighties, it is in 1974, that Hateley discovers the foot, in the United States. He plays as a junior for the club of Boston, or there will remain only one small season. Of return in its native land, it is made as professional footballer by Coventry City, before joining Portsmouth or it explodes.

Export abroad

Hateley will be one of rare English to be exported abroad. Obviously when one plays Portsmouth, one does not refuse a proposal of the Milan AC. There remain three season in Italy, before joining one of its compatriot, Glenn Hoddle with the ACE Monaco. In France, it carries out good performances, and gains in particular the championship under the orders of Arsène Wenger. It moves then towards Glasgow Rangers, or it will know its more beautiful years. It will mark 111 there goals in 214 matches.

End of a career and reconversion

After being remained in Glasgow a few years, he plays in particular for Leeds, and Hull City. Hull City which it will take again thereafter as a trainer of 1997 to 1999. But this career of trainer really does not charm it. Hateley thus decides to give up its career in football in 2000.
