Hatay
Hatay is a province (it) of Turkey bordering on Syria. Its chief town is Antioche (in Turkish Antakya ).
The Republic of Hatay was created in September 1938 with the support of France starting from the sandjak of Alexandrette. The territory comprised a Turkish majority and a Syrian minority. In an awaited way, this republic voted its fastening in Turkey on June 23rd, 1939.
