Hastingues

Hastingues is a common French, located in the department of the Landes and the area Aquitaine. Small country house, it was founded in 1289 per John Hastings, from whom it draws his name.

Geography

The high city, installed on a headland dominates the plain of the Pays of Orthe, which crosses the Gave of Pau, with the borders of the Moors and the Yrénées-Atlantiques. Two Barthe S (low meadows, alluvial plains covered by water in Raw period of ) frame the site.

History

Hastingues owes its foundation with the Paréage passed between Edouard Ier Plantagenêt, king d' Angleterre and duke of Aquitaine, and the monks of the Abbaye of Arthous.

This treaty, signed in the name of Edouard by the Sénéchal of Gascogne John Hastings envisaged in this place the foundation of a country house. From this time, the site preserved its general plan, its fortifications, its door registered in a rectangular gross tower which gives access to the main street, bordered by large houses of character.
