AtheOS is the name of a personal project of Operating system under license LPG. It was conceived and developed in majority by Kurt Skauen, Norwegian.

Presentation

AtheOS takes again many characteristics suitable for BeOS (Filing system S journalized 64 bits, support of SMP, API in C++, compatibility POSIX). Its Graphical interface takes again the esthetism of the Workbench of the Amiga.

The navigator Web

Kurt Skauen developed a navigator Web especially for AtheOS of the name of ABrowse, based on the engine of returned HTML, KHTML of the project KDE.

The stop of the development

The development of AtheOS knows since end 2001 one long period of stagnation. For this reason a group of people with at their head Rick Caudill, Henrik Isaksson and Kristian Van Der Vliet carried out a Fork of AtheOS, Syllable. This fork was quickly adopted by all the old community of AtheOS.
