Hassan Pasha

Hassan Pasha Ibn Kheireddine is the adoptive son of Kheireddine Barberousse. He will be his successor as a beylerbey of the Regency of Algiers.

Hassan is a prisoner of Sardaingne.

In 1533 Kheireddine is named Lord High Admiral of the Othoman fleet by Soliman, indicates it as its successor but it will be necessary to await the death of Hassan Aga in 1545 so that it receives the nomination of Soliman. One year later with died of his father it is named Beylerbey.

In 1551, Hassan Pasha is relieved and is seen replacing by Salah Raïs come from Alexandria.

After several years of disorders Hassan Pasha is again named Beylerbey in 1556 until in 1561 and its failure of Mers El Kébir *. In 1557 it pushes back the attacks of Mohammed ech-Sheik and take again Tlemcen. It will then make assassinate the king Saadien. Less than one year after it is again named and this until in 1567 where it is recalled by Constantinople to be appointed Captain-Pasha.

One owes him the administrative division of the territory conquered by the Régence of Algiers into three Beyliks, that of Constantine in the east, the Titteri in the center and Mazouna in the west.
