Hassan Khaled
The Large Mufti Hassan Khaled (1921 - 1989) was Mufti of the Lebanese République and leader of the community sunnite of the country.
He chaired the Islamic courts of the country during 23 years and the Islamic Coalition, gathering the former Prime Ministers for the country, the members of Parliament, Ministers and notable sunnites of the country.
Moderated, enthusiastic defender of the national unit at the time of the War of Lebanon, it dies assassinated the May 16th 1989, by the explosion of a car bomb with Beirut. 21 other people lost the life in the attack. The Syrian intelligence services are strongly suspected of being behind this assassination.
