The hesitant indicator, its partisans rejoined gradually the camp of Mu `âwîya. Finally it negotiated with Mu `âwîya. This last left in Hassan the money of the Treasury of Koufa and the incomes of a city close to Bassora, enabled him to go in Médine with all its family. Hassan also asked that cease the use to curse the name of “Ali at the time of the prayers to the mosque. The conditions were accepted by Mu `âwîya, except the last: the name of `Alî was more cursed only if Hassan even were present to him at the mosque. The Shiites consider that it was not a renunciation of the caliphate, but the choice of peace between the Moslems. Tabarî tells that Asmâ, one of the wives of Hassan, would have been bribed by Mu `âwîya to poison it. It was either a coated towel of poison, or a poison to be introduced into food. Driven `âwîya would have promised with this woman money, goods real and even the hand of his/her son future Yazîd Caliph. Hassan was poisoned and he died. Asmâ then required its reward, the promises would have been held, except that concerning the marriage. One wanted to bury Hassan at the side of Mahomet to Médine. But Aïcha prevented this burial because the Prophet had said that there was place only for the tomb of Abu Bakr, Umar, and Isa Ibn Maryam. Hassan was thus buried around Médine, with the cemetery of Baqi'.
Asmâ would have gone to see Mu' awiya to ask for to him the execution of its last promise. Mu' awiya would have answered: “ having betrayed your husband, wouldn't you betray also my son? ” and it would have made it put at death.
