Origin

It would result from crossings between Celtic cattle come from France and Great Britain, bovines simmental, Tux-zillertal and Tiroler grauvieh. It is for a very long time high in the mountainous solid mass of the Harz, with the borders of the Lower Saxony, the Saxony-Anhalt and the Thuringe. It is hardly high but in its area of origin where it is adapted better than of the more productive races. Manpower are weak: 380 cows and 5 bulls in 1996.

Morphology

It wears a dark dress uniformly red. The boor is also red. The short horns are turned forwards the, clear ones at dark end.
C' is a race of big size. The cow measures 135 cm with the garrot for 600 kg and the bull 150 cm for: 1100 kg.

Qualities

It is a mixed race which gives a rich milk: fat contents 5% and protein 3,8%.
Elle is rustic and develops well the fodder of its soil.
