Hartelkering

The Hartelkering is a mobile Digue, located at the Netherlands.

The Hartelkering is on the Canal Hartel close to Spijkenisse; it forms part, just like the Maeslantkering, of the Europoortkering, the most recent works of the Plan Delta.

The construction of Hartelkering was spread out at the rate/rhythm of that of Maeslantkering, of 1991 to 1997.

Hartelkering consists of two mobile structures in form of ellipse, with variable length from 49,3 to 98 meters, which are articulated on Tore S ovals and mobiles. Once closed, the structure determines a height of water higher of 3 meters than the top of the sea level (NAP).

When the leaves are closed, they undulate according to the sea and of its Marée S, which has an effect not controlled on the height of the leaves. From their elliptic form, they can however resist this movement.
