Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban ( Harry Potter and the Prisoner off Azkaban ), appeared with the editions Gallimard in 2000, is a book of J.K. Rowling, third of the series of the Harry Potter. Original publication with the Bloomsbury editions in 1999.

The third shutter of the series proves to be a little darker than the first. It comprises many innovations, like the appearance of the godfather of Harry, Sirius Black, escaped of Azkaban, or of the professor Lupin. The latter proves to be a Lycanthrope, frightened by itself and especially by what its condition could push it to inflict with others.

One learns, during this shutter, that the father of Harry, James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrow are Animagus (people able to take the appearance of an animal) not declared which became it to help their friend Remus Lupin.

Peter, alias Queudver, which one believed dead assassinated by Sirius Black, was in fact alive, in the shape of the rat of Ron, Croûtard. Peter is not other than the hidden servant of Lord voldemort, which betrays the parents of Harry Potter by revealing in Voldemort the site of their hiding-place.

In this third tome cheese of the series, one can finally notice that Hermione, up to that point a character of second plan, occupies a central role within the history, with the great joy of the majority of the young girls followers of Harry Potter. Our young witch finally will show her true personality at the great day.
