Harold Jefferson Coolidge is a environmentalist and a American Mammalogiste , born the January 15th 1904 with Boston and dead the February 15th 1985 with Beverly (Massachusetts).

It makes studies at the universities of the Arizona, Harvard and Cambridge. It off obtains a station of assistant for the Mammifères with the Museum Comparative Zoology of the university of Harvard where it deals especially of the Singe S and in particular with the Gorille.

He is the vice-president of the International Union for the Conservation off Natural and Natural Resources (1948-1954), directing founder and a former president (1966-1972, honorary president after this date) of the International union for the nature conservation (UICN) and the director founder of the World Wildlife Fund and World Wildlife Fund for the USA. Coolidge is moreover member various learned societies like the American Society off Mammalogists, the Fondation Charles Darwin, Fauna Preservation Society, the zoological Société of New York, the National Academy off Sciences, etc

Coolidge receives a title of doctor honoris causa of the Université George Washington, National university of Seoul and the Université of Brandeis.
