The Happy Mondays is a British group founded with Salford, industrial suburbs of Manchester in the years 1980.

Carried out by Shaun Ryder, Happy Mondays sign on the mythical label Factory Records, and record in 1987 the album Squirrel And G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out) produces by John Cale which establishes the years Madchester (musical movement primarily mancunien, containing rock'n'roll, dance, funk) making with this single mixture and clashing, the beautiful hours of the club the Hacienda . They leave later the albums Bummed produces by Martin Hannett and especially in 1990 Pills 'NR Thrills And Bellyaches (produced by Paul Oakenfold) with which they were their greater success and a great media exposure.

But too many drugs, of festivals and illicit consumption in all kinds end up destroying the group which after mitigated Yes Please left in 1992 separates. Shaun Ryder will found a little later the group Black Grape.

In 2006, after some scenic services, Happy Mondays announce that they recorded a new album with the producer Howie B.

In 2007, Shaun Ryder, Gary Whelan with the battery and Mark " Bez" Berry (the famous dancor), assisted powerful voice of Rowetta Satchell, go up on scene. Time and the abuses left traces, but that makes it possible to feel a little the mythical and mystified environment of Manchester following the example films 24 Hour Party People of Michael Winterbottom or Control of Anton Corbijn.
