Happy II of the Turn-Châtillon of Zurlauben

Happy II of the Turn-Châtillon of Zurlauben , wire of Conrad II of the Turn-Châtillon of Zurlauben, and older brother of Henri, fills the high positions of the administration with Zug.
In 1634, it, with two other ambassadors, was sent towards Louis XIII, to expose to this prince concerns of the Swiss nation, of which neutrality was threatened by the vicinity of the Swedish army. In 1653, it contributed, by the wisdom of its councils, to bring back revolted Lucerne, and in 1637 it renewed, in the name of the canton of Zug, alliance with that of the Valais. The catholic cantons appointed it in 1644 towards the Grisons, to alleviate the disorders which had risen among them. In 1656, it pacified the cantons of Glaris, Zurich and Bern. The catholic cantons gave him the titles of Père of the fatherland and Colonne of the religion . He wrote his hand the history of his ancestors , as well as the talk of the negotiations which he had led or to which he had taken share. He died in Zug the May 2nd 1663.
