The happy blast (literally: explosive rate/rhythm in English) is a technique of battery very much used in the music extême (Death metal, Grindcore, etc), which consists of a superposition of double eighth notes carried out with the feet and the hands with a high tempo (>150 bpm). The whole is intended to make the most possible noise. It rests on the alternative striking of the large case and the cymbal on the one hand and that of the clear case in shift of the feet on the other hand. The effect obtained thus gives an impression of Mur of sound.
This technique was invented in the medium of the Années 1980 with in particular the exit of the first album éponyme of S.O.D (Speak english Or Die) with Charlie Benante with the battery (also beater of the Anthrax group) like with Scum , the first album of Napalm Death with Mick Harris with the barrels. Others regard Pete Sandoval Morbid Angel as the true precursor of happy Blast.
Thereafter, the happy blast became more and more complex by introducing varied rhythmic reasons and more complexes thanks to the arrival of increasingly talented and powerful beaters.
Blast Beat one of the rhythmic reasons is the most used in musical styles such as the Death Metal, the Black Metal and the Grindcore.
A technique of blast was developed rather recently called the gravity blast . This technique makes it possible to have the impression of a bearing of clear case to the Double eighth note.
The principle of this technique is simple: to strike the clear case with olive of the rod, to use inertia to strike hooping with the body of the rod and to slightly go up the hand to use olive.
At the time of the use of this technique, one would say that the beater " scie" has any speed and the rod seems to form a portion of circle having for center the point of impact with hooping.
This technique is mainly employed on acoustic batteries " trigguées" so that the generated sounds are standardized (always the same one returned).
