In the study of the molecular evolution, a haplogroupe is a great group of Haplotype S, which is series of Allèle S located at specific sites in a Chromosome.

For the human Genetic , the haplogroupes that one studies generally are haplogroupes Y chromosome (DNA there) and haplogroupes of DNA mitochondrial (DNA MT). One can employ both to define the genetic populations. The DNA there follows only the patrilineal line , whereas the DNA MT follows only the line matrilinéaire. The men have the two types of genetic markers (DNA mitochondrial of the mother and Y chromosome of the father); the women have only one type: the DNA mitochondrial of the mother.

The classification of the human haplogroupes based on the genetic markers quickly evolved/moved whereas one finds new markers regularly.
