Hantili Ier
Hantili Ier was a king hittite (1590-1560). He married Harapsili, sister of Mursili I {{er}}, which he succeeded. He had two natural children, a girl and a son (Pisani), and an adoptive son (Zidanta). Hantili is a name hattien meaning " the premier".
Succession
During the reign of king Mursili Ier, this one gave his/her sister, Harapsili, in marriage with Hantili. With the assistance of his/her adoptive son Zidanta, Hantili conspired, assassinated Mursili and taken the capacity by the force. It was not perceived like entirely illegitimate because of the royal blood of his wife.
The history of its succession was described in the proclamation of Telebinu:
" Hantili had Harapsili, of Mursili, for femme"
" Zidanta was combined in Hantili and they made a contract malefic - they killed Mursili"
Reign
We know few things of the reign of Hantili Ier, except which it probably rebuilt the enclosing wall of Hattusa, ever rebuilt since the catch and the destruction of the city by legendary the Anitta.
It is under the reign of Hantili Ier that appear for the first time the Scandinavian barbarians called Gasgas. They then have plundered and just destroyed the Holy City hittite Nérik.
