Hanseatic company of colonization
The Hanseatic Société of colonization ( Sociedade Colonizadora Hanseática , in Portuguese) was a German company founded in 1896, with Hamburg.
To the 19th century, the government Brésil IEN entrusted at private companies, n the other hand of territorial concessions, the responsibility of supervise the settlement and the development of the still unoccupied territories.
In load of the settlement of the State of Santa Catarina, the company did not allow only the arrival of farmer S in the search of grounds to be cultivated, but also many craftsman S, workmen, trading S, and even of Fonctionnaire S. the majority of the immigrants arrived directly from the cities European S and were accustomed little to the work of the ground.
The company took the continuation of old the " Colonizing Company of Hamburg " and recovered its concessions. The latter had been mainly active in the valley of the Rio Itapocu, and was in particular at the origin of the foundation of the town of Botuverá.
The new business concentrated its activity in the area of Ibirama, in the Vallée of Rio Itajaí, where, the November 8th 1897, unloaded the director of the company, A.W.W. Sellin, accompanied by the Géomètre Emílio Odebrecht and some workmen.
Thereafter, the company, in order to attract the colonists, offered a batch of ground in exchange of the purchase of a ticket for the Brésil.
