Hans Seiler

Hans Seiler (1907 with Neuchâtel - 1986) is an artist painter Suisse.

Biography

Born with Neuchâtel, in Swiss, 1907, Hans Seiler passes her childhood to Bern where his/her father is doctor. In 1924, on the councils of the conservative of the Museum of Bern, which noticed its notebooks of drawings, it goes to the school Art schools of Lyon where it follows initially the courses of Sculpture. He works with a pupil of Rodin, Mrs Bardet, who advises to him to go to Paris, to devote itself to the Peinture. In 1927, it enters to the Académie Ranson, where it follows the teaching of Bissière until 1930. It also binds to Gromaire, which him also, will remain his/her friend all his life. He works then as a recluse, especially during the years of the war.

In 1934, it is fixed with his wife and her daughter at the Chennevières-on-Marne, and in 1939 a house in Périgord buys, close to Sarlat where it will spend long periods throughout its life. He travels as of the Thirties in Brittany and there will always return often, in the Finistere, and will also go on the coast Norman. Its love of large the ciels will make him also like the Holland, and starting from 1978, it will go all the autumns in Spain. And all these places will inspire the topics - landscapes and interiors - which will make its work.

It exposes as of 1930 in several living rooms and in Suisse. After a long interruption during the war, it exposes in 1948 to the gallery Jeanne Bucher, of 1950 to 1970 with the Gallery Castling near Jean Bertholle, Elvire Jan, Jean Moal, then with the gallery of Bellechasse which will become the Bellint gallery, and this, until its death. It will have exposures abroad (gallery Bettie Thommen with Basle, Verena Muller with Bern, Redfern gallery with London, Haaken gallery with Oslo, Blanche gallery with Stockholm, the Luxembourg, etc and to the living rooms of autumn, of May, of New Realities and with FIAC. The Bonnat museum with Bayonne devotes to him a retrospective during the summer 1986. He dies accidentally on August 3rd during this retrospective.

An exposure will take place at the end of Bellint 86. The Krugier gallery devotes to him a room with the fair of Basle in 1989 and exposes it with its other Swiss painters to Geneva in 1991. Four particular exposures were devoted to him to Paris and one in Switzerland of 1990 to 2005.
