Hans Refior
Hans Refior was officer in the Wehrmacht (Army German) during the Second world war.
Ordering in 1940 then colonel in 1944, this staff officer becomes the chief of staff of the general lieutenant ( Generalleutnant ) Helmut Reymann on March 18th, 1945, during the Bataille of Berlin. Reymann was the military commander of Berlin. It was very clearly upon the departure its predecessor, the general Bruno Ritter von Hauenschild, had not left him any means of defense.
At the beginning of April, Refior and Reymann concluded that Berlin was not likely any to resist the Soviet attack with the resources which remained to them. They then recommended to Joseph Goebbels to let the civilians leave the city, in particular the women and the children. The answer digs that they accepted Goebbels made them realize that this one had not never considered this possibility and was unaware of all the logistics required by an evacuation in mass.
While trying to determine on how much troops and of weapons they could count, Refior and Reymann realized that the title of Area of defense of Berlin no concrete significance had. It was only one hollow slogan, just like Fortress ( Festnung ) invented by Hitler.
The April 22nd Reymann is replaced by the general Helmut Weidling with the head of Area of defense of Berlin . Weidling preserves Refior at its sides and in fact its chief of civil cabinet .
Early the morning of the April 26th, Refior is awaked with the District-general of Weidling, the Benderblock, by a fast salvo of shell (what the Soviets called to frame ), greeting Red Army that he recognized like a shooting of adjustment preliminary to a bombardment of rockets Katioucha.
May 2nd, 1945, taken refuge in the Führerbunker, it goes to the Soviet forces with Weidling, its chief of staff Theodor von Dufving and several their subordinates.
