Hans Heyer

Hans Heyer (born the March 16th 1943 with Mönchengladbach, Germany) is a German automobile old driver.

Biography

Hans Heyer carried out a pretty career in the races of endurance and private cars. Winner of championnant of Europe of tourism in 1974, victorious of championship DRM (Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft) in 1975,1976 and 1980, but also victorious in tests such as the 12 hours of Sebring in 1984 and the 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps to three recoveries, it controlled until 1999.

But Heyer also owes its notoriety with the rocambolesques circumstances of its participation at its single Grand Prix of Formule 1. Called by the German stable ATS to take part in GP of Germany 1977, it does not manage to be qualified but obtains the statute of " all the same; réserviste" in order to stage with a possible fixed price of last minute. When the turn of formation is completed, Heyer, which has patience in the line of the stands, must go obviously: no competitor declared fixed price and the race will thus take place without him. But the German does not resist temptation to take part at his Grand Prix national and benefitting from the confusion of the departure (or the passive kindness of the police chiefs), it nevertheless takes the track in all illegality. The " participation; pirate" of Heyer will end at the end of ten turns by the fault of a broken gear box, and it will of course be disqualified.
