Hans-Rudi Wäscher

Hans-Rudi Wäscher was born the April 5th 1928 with Saint-Gall in Germanic Suisse. It is undoubtedly the German draftsman most known. Quickly, his/her parents moved for Lugano. It is there that the Hans-Rudi young person discovers the American data bases like Tarzan, Mandrake or Flash Gordon. It follows a training of painter of advertizing posters before making the school of Art of the Work of Hanover. It will sign there its first work Der Herr Boll for the publisher Schwarzwald . At the time, the Germany did not produce cartoons. It is at the time of a ballade with Hanover in 1953 that he discovered magazines colors in small size with Italian the products by a local editor. Surprised by this initiative, it took some drawings with him and went to present its candidature at Walter Lehning, the editor in question. This one was filled with enthusiasm by the feature of the young draftsman. Thus its co-operation with the publisher Lehning began, at which it will create its principal characters such as Sigurd , Tibor , Falk or Nick and even a resumption of Akim.

1953: it starts its career by creating Sigurd , a hero means-âgeux with the Prince Valiant . It will be published in the popular data bases of the time called generally by their Italian term: piccolo series or Liliput series. All that to say that they were small sizes. From 1953 to 1960, Wäscher will draw 322 episodes of this character.
1956 to 1959: Lehning which published also the German version of Akim required of Wäscher to draw new adventures of this hero of Augusto Pedrazza, the whole without pouring royalties with the beneficiaries, of course. There were thus 196 pirate episodes of Akim, but the authors had wind of the business and Lehning required of its draftsman to create his own Akim and thus Tibor was born. Since, these adventures have a considerable success in Germany and know many republications.
1958: just after the launching of Sputnik, the first satellite, Wäscher created Nick , driver of space engines.
1962: it creates Nizar , another hero of the jungle in the Koelling editor.
1963: it creates Bob und Ben , but it will not realize of it that 14 episodes and it will be taken again by other draftsmen.
1967: it creates its last series for Lehning, it acts of Roy which will not know that 14 numbers because the editor puts the key under the door. Wäscher seeks another editor and will choose to work with Koelling.
1968: it creates Ulf and Tigerboy
1969: it starts its work on Buffalo Bill at Bastei .

Wäscher generally has work in the stories of jungle (Tibor or Nizar) or of the stories of knights (Sigurd, Falk or Ulf). Although these stories are passably obsolete today, the original editions of these heroes reach astronomical sums at the German collectors. Equipped with an imagination without terminal, it created a multitude of stories (more than 1500) and today still, it continues to draw for the publisher Hethke.
