Hankyū Railway

is a Japanese private railway company. It has and exploits several lines of trains travellers, serving amongst other things the corridor Kōbe - Ōsaka - Kyōto.

History

Creation

The history of the company Hankyū Railway begins in 1907 with creation from the company. This company opens in 1910 two lines travellers, the first between Umeda and Takarazuka and the second between Ishibashi and Minoo.

Development

Into 1918 the company Minoo-Arima Electric Tramway changes name to become.

Two years later in 1920, two new lines are inaugurated, the line Hankyū Kōbe connecting Jusō to Kōbe (lengthened until Sannomiya in 1936), and the line Hankyū Itami connecting Tsukaguchi to Itami.

In 1943, Hanshin Kyūko Railway and Keihan Railway amalgamate under the name Keihanshin Kyūko Railway. In 1949, the latter decides to separate from its lines Keihan, Katano, Uji, Keishin, Ishiyama-Sakamoto by creating the company Keihan Electric Railway. It preserves however several lines acquired during fusion, in particular the principal line connecting Ōsaka to Kyōto.

Keihanshin Kyūko Railway is famous in Hankyū Railway in 1973. In 2005 Hankyū Railway becomes a subsidiary company of Hankyū Holdings.

In 2006, Hankyū Holdings repurchases Hanshin Electric Railway, and becomes Hankyu Hanshin Holdings.

Network

The railway network of Hankyū is divided into three principal branches which converge in Umeda:
  • Line Kyōto
  • Line Takarazuka
  • Line Kōbe
These lines represent 147 km of ways on the whole, and serve 140 stations.

Kyōto Line

This line connects Ōsaka to Kyōto.

Correspondences:

  • Line Senri
  • Arashiyama Line.

The Senri line finishes in Tenjin-bashi-suji 6-is unemployed, but the way poursuie until Tengachaya. This section (the Sakaisuji line) belongs to the municipal Subway of Osaka.

Takarazuka Line

This line connects Ōsaka to Takarazuka. Correspondences:
  • Line Minoo
  • Myōken Line (through the company Nose Railway)

Kōbe Line

This line connects Ōsaka to Kōbe.

Rolling stock

The Hankyū trains are distinguished with their delivery bordeau, this one being supplemented on the top of a liseret of color white-broken on the trains of class 6000 and higher.
