Hang one the box

Hang One The Box is a group of Chinese Rock coming from Beijing formed in 1998, whose music fits in the current Riot grrrl.

History

Wang Yue and Yilina friends of the college and impassioned music have since 1997 the desire to assemble a female rock group. Whereas they work in a store of music which passes the song " Should I Stay Gold Should I Go? " Clash, they sympathize with Yang Fan. They decide to form a group all the three under the name of Hang one the selected Box starting from a dream of Yilina.

The group goes up on scene for the first time on July 20th 1998 with Wang Yue to the guitar and the song, Yilina with low and Yang Fan with the battery. The following year, they meet Shenggy which replaces Yang Fan.

In May 2000, the group leaves the titles " Yellow Banana" and " I' m not sexy" in China on the Scream label, and with the Japan on Benten.

Their first album Yellow Banana leaves to Japan in April 2001, followed the following year by Di Di Di on the same labels.

In 2003, the group makes a round in 9 American cities and in particular with the SXSW festival of Austin. It records the song " I' m Sick" for a Japanese album homage to Bruce Lee and makes one second round with the the United States.

In September 2004, Hang One The Box leaves the EP Foxy Lady which contains in particular a resumption of Jimi Hendrix. The new songs show that the group evolved to the Krautrock and the new wave.
