Anse is a common French, located in the department the Rhone and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Its inhabitants is called Ansois.

Geography

Located at the doors of the Beaujolais wine, the commune of Handle extends on a surface from 1  523 hectares.

It is next to the communes of Lucenay, Lachassagne, Pommiers, Saint-Bernard and Ambérieux.

It is the commune of junction between the Azergues and the the Saone.

History

Period Gallo-Roman

Handle is in the beginning a Roman Castellum (fortified town) which was located on the way connecting Lyon to Autun. At the time, the strengthened city was called Asa Paulini , from where the name actuel.
was drawn Of this Roman establishment remained many vestiges of which some are still visible like the rampart S dated from half of the 3rd century and some of the 15 turns which composed them. Excavations also put at the day several mosaic S, of the mural Peinture S as well as Poterie S and Statue ttes, in particular on an important site on which could have been located a vast palate ( the Barn of the Level ). The name Asa Paulini was given to the college of Handle.
