Handkerchief of Adam

To make a Mouchoir of Adam represents the action of moucher by making pressure with a finger on a Narine in order to expel the Mucus other nostril in front of oneself.

This action is often observed at the Footballeur S and the Cycliste S, which avoids to them having to leave a handkerchief in full action. This practice is often regarded as feeling reluctant but proves to be necessary for the majority of the Sportif S which produce a great quantity of Mucus during the effort.

A dictionary of slang and familiar French allots this expression to the short version of an older formulation, " Handkerchief of the Adam" Father; (anonymous quotation: " I put on also white gloves, and that annoys me, because I am obliged to withdraw them for me moucher - with the handkerchief of the Adam" father;)

Quotation: " A true cyclist does not need more handkerchief for moucher his nose (Mr. Munk) "
