Handisport Geneva east is a club omnisport for handicapped people of Suisse.
History
Association Sport-Handicap Geneva is created on August 1st, 1956 by Pasteur Hubert Grivel who takes steps near the General Henri Guisan in favor of the creation of centers médico-sportsmen, in order to offer sports activities to the handicapped people. Thereafter, always under the impulse of Hubert Grivel, the Swiss Federation of the sports for invalids is created in 1959. One year later, the federal Disability insurance envisages in its payment the financing of course of sport for handicapped people, recognizing his value of integration in the daily life and professional.Sport Handicap Geneva started by proposing courses of gymnastics to the handicapped people, then Basket-ball in wheel chair starting from 1958. The first match in Switzerland was disputed on October 17th, 1959, having close to: 1500 spectators, between the Genevese team and the team of France. In 1960, a selection of Genevese sportsmen, like some Valaisan sportsmen, trains the Swiss delegation with the paralympic first Jeux of Rome. Courses of shooting-with-the arc and swimming are introduced in 1960.
Into 1996, association changes name to become Handisport Geneva .
Prize list
All confused activities, the club gained thousands of titles and account of many Olympic medals. The Basket-ball in wheel chair was a long time the headlight activity of Geneva Sport-Handicap, before yielding the place to the Tennis in wheel chair. Certain Genevese sportsmen are very active and obtain many titles in less media sports, such as for example the Table tennis or the Natation.
Sections
Certain activities are organized in semi-autonomous sections, and association proposes courses in other sports, without those being organized within sections with whole share.
