Handbook off the Birds off the World (collection of works)
The collection of the Handbook off the Birds off the World (often shortened in HBW ) is a series of 16 volumes (11 currently appeared), published by a Spanish publisher of Barcelona: Lynx Edicions.
This series by is directed by Josep del Hoyo, Andrew Elliott and Jordi Sargatal of volumes 1 to 7, then by Josep del Hoyo, Andrew Elliott and David Christie starting from volume 8.
It is the first encyclopedia which aims at covering the totality of the alive species of Oiseau X. The first volume was publé in 1992, the last should appear in 2012.

Published in 1992. It begin with 38 pages supervised by Eduardo de Juana, on the biology of the birds and a foreword on project HBW, by Christoph Imboden.The families studied in this volume are the following ones:
