Hand-barrow-the-Époisses is a common French, located in the department of the Coast-with Or and the area Burgundy.

Geography

This village of Coast-in Or is to 4 km of Epoisses, borough famous for its cheese refined with the marc of Burgundy but also for its castle, on the road of Montbard - city where, thanks to Buffon, was born the iron and steel industry in France (see the Forges of Buffon). Note that Montbard is with 1:05 of Paris via the TGV of which it is the first stop before Dijon.

Located at the foot of a small mount (Razeau, which culminates to approximately 320 m), the slopes were covered with vine at the beginning of the XXe century. There remains about it a few feet nowadays exclusively for the personal consumption of those which have courage to do the work! Mixed-farming and breeding characterize the saving in this agricultural zone.

The rural migration and the nonrenewal of the generations led the current farmers to concentrate their activity on the breeding in grazing ground and the mixed-farming in plain, generally leaving in waste lands the zone of the slopes.

No the river around, except a Ru that one calls the Ru of steel and which is dry in summer. The river Armançon passes to 5 km to Athie and Genay. The road which goes up in Razeau led to the village of Corsaint. The town of Semur in Auxois, which magnificiently preserved its medieval character, is to 14 km and constitutes without context one of the florets of Coast-in Or.

Since Hand-barrow-the-Epoisses, one with the embarrassment of the choice to discover the historical heritage of the area:

  • the castles of Epoisses, Bourbilly, Tanlay, Ancy-the-Franc, of Bussy-Rabutin,

  • the abbeys of Fontenay, Flavigny, of Moutiers,
  • the town of Avallon and in the vicinity, in the valley of the Cousin, celebrates it site of Vézelay, from which one left the Crusades and not the least famous restoring Marc Meneau, in Saint Father, the Hope,
  • the pretty borough of Walnut tree-on-Serene, and at the border of Morvan, Saulieu and celebrates it restaurant of Bernard Loiseau to little distance from the village of birth large minister and Marshal of France: Vauban (born in Saint-Leger-Vauban),
  • celebrates it site of Alésia with Sorb-apple-Holy-Queen close to Laumes and the lake of Bridge.

History

Bar: thus, it seems, was written the name of the commune a few centuries ago. One could undoubtedly check it in the parochial files that intelligent republicans knew to preserve at the Town hall instead of burning them like one makes thousands of others, in a French revolutionary past which largely preceded the Talibans in stupidity and the will to make disappear the roots of the people. Thus thank you with the generations for priests, and laic who succeeded and taken the relay to them.

Do you know that Bar was an appendix of Torcy? Its term is Saint-Mathieu. Attached to the diocese of Langres, the parish had 3 parts: Bar, Plays (in the past Jox, Jovum), and a portion of Corrombles called the Street of Bar. It counted 300 communicants as one said. The lord was the bishop of Langres, like abbot of Moutiers-Saint-Jean, to which this church was given in 1141. The stronghold of the Town hall was given to Charles Lanneau de Marey, knight of Saint-Louis. In the former families, one finds Drouhin. P. Drouhin was lord of the manor of Old man-Castle in 1409. One also reads that the village is with one mile from Epoisses and two of Semur, that there is a career, a small slope of vine, corn, meadows.
