Hams

the Hams is a group of humorous song originating in the area of Nantes, founded in 1996 and dissolved in 2006.

History

The name of the group comes from one of their expressions, jambonner , which means to make an ox or to play of the music.

Since their origin, the Hams were an UFO on the music scene, quickly marking the public of the coffees and the Nantes rooms of the area which marked out their beginnings.

In fact, their success was fast, certainly being based on a generation of fans of the V.R.P. but also thanks to a public which is clean for them. Although not being accustomed large scenes, the Hams furrowed France in all the directions, as well as Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec, attending the coffees - concerts, the village f4etes and the festivals, gathering an audience increasingly large and leaving with their credit more than 800 concerts.

Perhaps because of this continual tour, or a very constraining style of music, the members of the group often changed. In ten years, there were three beaters, three double bass players and two guitarists. They were these frequent changes, leaving the singer like only member of origin, which led to the dissolution of the group. Such those with which have so often compare them, the Hams were a shooting star which left three albums like proof of their transitory but brilliant existence.

Style

Their style can be easily considered same fiber as that of V.R.P..

Their music borrows without complex from all the styles, of their own consent they claim James Brown, Django Reinhardt, Georges Brassens, Mike Brant, AC/DC or Alan Stivell. The music is interpreted using an instrumentation of most original: one can see a section coppers made up only of Kazoo, against-bathes (kind of double bass of recovery made up of a plastic basin, a handle with brushes and a clothes line) and a battery holding more that of kitchen that musical by his heteroclite composition of stoves, pans, pipes, of limp of preserve and various metal objects, including even a case out of anti-tank wooden of mines.

Their texts are proof of all the styles of humor, the pun without second degree with the most complete subtlety while passing by black humor making squeak the teeth and the good joke which makes laugh everyone. In spite of humor and the light tone, the songs are often composed of satirists attacks against the world of large distribution, fast-food industry, the media and the policy. The whole is accompanied by the account often cynical of the daily life and seasoned of a simple lyricism that one could also name " what passes to them by the tête".

In spite of this appearance of buffoons, their interpretations does not remain about it less very not worked. Musics, choreographies mild nutters and even sketches being more fruit of the repetition adapting to spontaneousness of the public that the improvisation of a troop of singing clowns.
