History
Several layers of coal were exploited in Banne (4 concessions: Montgros, Doulovy, Sallefermouse and Pigère-Mazel) until the middle of the 20th century. They was the only coal mines of the Département of Ardeche (excluded that of Nieigles, today Lalevade-in Ardèche). Since the closing of the mines, a forest took the place of the square (Wood of Bartres). Few vestiges remain except splendid the " viaduct of Doulovy" (built in 1876). These layers are the continuity of the field of Alès.
