Hamoud Boualem

Hamoud Boualem (), is an Algerian mark manufacturing various drinks, of the Sirop to the Soda. It is a family company, founded in 1889 with Algiers by Youssef Hamoud. The drinks Hamoud Boualem are mainly consumed in Algeria, but the products are also distributed in France, England and Canada.

Hamoud Boualem has 20% Algerian market of the fizzy drink of which more 50% of the market in the center of the country, Coca-Cola ( 23% ) and Pepsi ( 18% ).

History

The founder of the company, Youssef Hamoud, was aromatisor and distilled gasolines in a traditional way. He then manufactured artisanalement his lemonade (that which would become the Hamoud ) starting from lemon oil in the district of Belcourt (today Belouizdad).

In 1878, Hamoud makes build the first factory of its company éponyme in this same district. The August 9th 1889, the name Hamoud (for the lemonade) is deposited. The Hamoud drink is presented to the World Fair to Paris in 1889 (classification except contest). It was only one beginning. On the whole, the mark gained 20 gold medals in various exposures.

In 1924, the grandson of Youssef, Boualem Hamoud, gives its name to the company and deposits it. Boualem in particular took part in the construction of the Mosquée of Paris.

During the Second world war, the unloadings Alliés in Algérie bring competition to the mark, which must consequently divide the market with the American marks like Coca-Cola.

The company goes bankrupt in 1947 and is recovered by a group banking. Four years later, in 1951, the Hamoud family is, with the assistance of the Hafiz family, will manage to repurchase its company.

In 2000, the company joins another to found the company SBA ( S odas and B let us oissons of has lgery), which produces all drinks of the range Hamoud Boualem.

In 2001, the company concedes the rights of exploitation to a third production unit HL ( H afiz L imonadery) which is at the East of Algiers.

A concession is also granted to Source Parot with St Etienne for the production of Selecto.

In 2007, Ets Hamoud Boualem & Co inaugurates their first regional production unit with Oued Tlelat in Wilaya of Oran and names at its head the young person H afiz F arid directing Marketing within this institution since 2002.

The current manager, R éda H amoud, fifth of the name, in station for more than 25 years, has known to carry out his boat and to face the tests and the many tumults which its country crossed.

Products

The two most famous drinks of the mark are the Hamoud (lemonade, presented at the time of the World Fair of 1889 in the past named Royal the ) and the Sélecto (soda with the apple gasoline, in the past named Victoria ).
