Hamois

Hamois (in Walloon Hamwè ) is a common French-speaking of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Namur.

The origin of the name is obscure. The name Hamois would find its origin in the Germanic word hemmen meaning enclosed or hamlet . Another etymology, Germanic, it also, would make go up Hamois with radical " ham" meaning pre, meadow, grazing ground or pasture.

History

Hamois rewashed town hall of Ciney and thus of the Principauté of Liege.

It amalgamated under the French mode with the locality of Hubinne, then was cut down into 1898 by the villages by Achet and Monin.
