Hamoir
Hamoir (in Walloon Hamwer ) is a common French-speaking of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Liege, in the valley of the Ourthe.
Sections
The commune of Hamoir is made up of four villages:
- Comblain-the-Turn, which had during eight years its festival of Jazz and where one can see three old mills;
- Fairon;
- Filot, fatherland of the type-setter Edouard Senny (1923-1980);
- Hamoir , administrative center since the fusion of 1977.
It is twinned with the common Frenchwoman of Saulxures-on-Moselotte, chief town of canton of the department of the the Vosges, and with common allemande of Wenigumstadt, in the North-West of the Bavaria.
History
Formerly Hamoir belonged to the Principauté of Stavelot-Malmedy.
Hamoir is the birthplace of the sculptor Baroque Jean LED Court.
